Bagels Donated with ‘Love and Care’
Every week for the last five years, a volunteer group from Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care has dropped off 300-500 bagels to the Mary Brennan INN soup kitchen for guests to enjoy. The mission of the organization falls right in line with The INN’s mission, to bring joy and dignity to marginalized communities. Vikram Gandhi, along with his six other team members on Long Island, travel to different bagel stores in Albertson, Williston Park, Mineola and Plainview weekly to pick up hundreds of bagels left over at the end of the day and deliver them to the soup kitchen.
The guests are very grateful for the donation. “Guests love receiving a bag of bagels when they come for a meal,” said Jean C. Victor, Jr., Director of the soup kitchen. “Bagels in New York are a staple for any meal and are always something everyone looks forward to!” Vikram is proud of his team of all ages, (the oldest member is 83!) “Our spiritual leader says you should make a difference in people’s lives,” said Vikram. “If you have blessings in abundance and you can’t give it to someone else to use, what good is it?”
