Receptionist (Mary Brennan INN Soup Kitchen – Hempstead)

Long Island’s largest Soup Kitchen, the Mary Brennan INN, is seeking a receptionist to meet and greet volunteers and donors; monitor incoming phone calls and accept and record donations. The ideal volunteer must be a people person, team player and friendly, professional, able to communicate well, multi-task, be organized and be flexible in assisting wherever they are needed.

We are looking for receptionists to fill the hours below:

Tuesdays & Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Receptionist (Center for Transformative Change – Hempstead)

The Center for Transformative Change (CTC) serves as a consultative referral center for guests of the Mary Brennan INN Soup Kitchen. The center is seeking a Receptionist to meet, greet and check-in guests who are requesting services; monitor incoming phone calls and file away guest folders. The ideal volunteer must be a people person, team player and friendly, professional, able to communicate well, multi-task, be organized, and be flexible in assisting wherever they are needed.

We are looking for receptionists to fill the days and hours below:

Monday through Thursday – 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

 

Volunteer Coordinator

The INN is seeking highly skilled, fast paced energetic volunteers that are pleasant, caring and courteous to work in Long Island’s largest Soup Kitchen, as a Volunteer Coordinator.

Volunteer Coordinator will assist staff in ensuring that all volunteers are assigned to specific tasks and that each area of the soup kitchen is sufficiently covered. Volunteer Coordinators must be flexible in assisting wherever they are needed and must work with the Managers to maintain safe mealtime standards in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures.

Volunteer Coordinators must follow directions and work well on a team, be punctual, dependable, friendly, respectful and good communicators. They must also have the ability to respond to emergency situations while maintaining composure and demonstrating appropriate professionalism and restraint at all time. Volunteer Coordinators must have the physical stamina to stand for long periods of time. Computer proficiency is a plus.

Volunteer Coordinators are needed for each day of the week, Monday-Friday, during the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

 

Volunteer Enrichment Activities Coordinator 

The INN is seeking a highly motivated, energetic and creative volunteer to work alongside the Program Manager in finding speakers and programs that would be of interest to guests coming to Long Island’s largest Soup Kitchen, the Mary Brennan INN (located in Hempstead).

Past workshops have included topics such as yoga, medication, sports talk, art and financial budgeting. We are looking to offer a wide-variety of programs at different times of the day.

The volunteer candidate must be friendly, professional, computer literate, organized and excellent communication skills.

 

 

Volunteer Grant Writer/Researcher

The INN is seeking a highly skilled person to work in the administrative office, alongside our Grants Coordinator and Director of Development, in the area of grant research, documentation and reporting. The volunteer must be knowledgable and great at writing and/or researching grants (grant funding from corporations, financial institutions, private and family foundations, as well as NY state contracts). We will train you on web research using the Foundation Center tools and our internal database.

If you have a general understanding of how grant funding works for non-profit agencies, we’d like to meet you.
