Carol Silva Encourages You to Bring Joy to Guests of The INN- “Marie Kondo Style” - 03/13/2024

Carol Silva, former News 12 Long Island anchor and long-time friend of The INN has a question for you. Do your belongings bring you joy? If not, they could bring joy to a guest in need of essential items.

After watching a Netflix special about Marie Kondo, a tidying expert and creator of the KonMari Method, her unique approach to ridding your life of clutter, Carol decided to clean out her closets at home, and bring some joy over to the Mary Brennan INN soup kitchen.

The method is simple. According to Marie Kondo’s website, www.konmari.com, “Keep only the things that speak to the heart, and discard items that no longer spark joy. Thank them for their service – then let them go.”

Carol’s donations of joy for someone else included lots of clothing from herself, her husband and son. She packed up her car and brought the items right over. It’s not the first time Carol has donated items; she has been doing it for years. After her retirement from News 12, she donated dozens of the dresses she wore as an anchor on the air. “I loved the idea of sparking joy for others. The INN is a wonderful, local place to donate, and you can be sure your items will go to someone in need. So go through your closets and bring The INN some joy!”
