Why Should You Sponsor a Meal? - 02/21/2018

Every day at the Mary Brennan INN soup kitchen in Hempstead, a full five-course meal is served to anyone who comes to our doors hungry; no questions asked. We give our supporters a special opportunity to be of service to The INN’s guests, and to help us fill the plates of 200-400 guests each day through our Sponsor a Meal program.

Through the years, countless groups have sponsored meals for different reasons. Here are some of our favorites:

Roongta Wedding Party

A Family Wedding: In lieu of favors, family members from the Roongta/Nanda wedding, who traveled from all over the world, decided to sponsor a meal and volunteer together. The grooms’ mother said, “We believe in giving back rather than giving a favor in Hindu weddings. It is a custom to do a good deed for blessings for the couple.”

A Company Team Builder: Countless corporations are adding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) into their bottom line. Rich Noll at the Noll Law Firm in Syosset closes his office once a month to give employees an opportunity to give back and even sponsors a meal at The INN six times a year.

Remembering a Loved One: Nadine and Dean Jacoby are the founders of The Sydne Jacoby Foundation, named in honor of their late daughter. The foundation chose the Mary Brennan INN as a recipient of their donation because Sydne volunteered at the soup kitchen as a high school student.
