“Sweet Lou” Steps Into the Boxing Ring for The INN - 01/17/2024

Louis (aka “Sweet Lou”) Pagonis has been working at Nassau Country Club in Glen Cove for 21 years. He has been a friendly face and part of their hardworking catering staff at the venue for several major fundraising events The INN has held there since 2019, including the Golf Classic and INNkeepers’ Ball. Lou is no stranger to charity work and feels it is very important to help those who are less fortunate, so it’s no surprise that the father of two and grandfather of four decided to participate in the 2023 Long Island Fight For Charity, an annual event where local amateur business people step into the boxing ring to raise funds for their favorite local nonprofit organizations. Lou felt strongly about choosing The INN as his charity to support. He said, “The INN does so much for people in need and it’s so close to home. I was happy to have so many of my friends and family join me in supporting a great charity.”

The bout was held on November 20th, and after months of training four to five times a week as well as promotional events to get the word out, Lou and his opponent Wayne (The Hitman) Alden boxed for three, one-minute rounds before the final bell announced that they were both winners. Lou’s efforts raised over $5,000 that will be presented to The INN at an upcoming presentation event. “Pound for pound,” Lou is The INN’s champ and we feel his efforts were a total “knockout!”
